My experience with Milky Foot

Milky Foot is an at home pedicure treatment. It aims to remove hardened skin from your feet. All you have to do is slip on the foot pads, leave them on for 60-90 minutes and wa-lah, soft and silky feet... in 2-3 weeks... These retail anywhere between $25.99 (Chemist Warehouse) and $31.99 (Priceline).

I bought Milky Foot a good couple months ago but just never got around to actually using it. It was the height of summer and being thong wearing weather I was worried how long my feet were going to look manky after application as the packet says the exfoliating effect can last up to 2 to 3 weeks. Eek! As the weather cooled down however, I thought I would give this a go, given I could just cover up with socks!

I have always had dry feet, I'm one of those lucky people that have to moisturise my feet daily or they'll dry out and I'll develop cracked heels within a day or two. My usual routine is daily moisturising and pumice stone in the shower 3 or 4 times a week. Yuck. Throughout winter I tend to neglect my tootsies so when I saw Milky Foot I thought it was a god send and perfect for me!!
I sat down and cut open the 'booties' and slipped my feet in (my freshly washed feet I might add). The packed says to wear normal socks on top but normal socks wouldn't fit and I didn't want the product oozing out the top. The smell is not the nicest, a bit chemically but I was expecting that. I sat for 90 minutes (the maximum time to have them on) with my feet flat on the floor. This was boring, however forced me to work on my wedding invitations so at least some good came of this time ;). There was a slight tingling feeling for the first 10 or so minutes but this went away soon after. When the 90 minutes was up I washed off the product and I must say they did feel instantly softer (especially on the tops of my feet).

Day 1 & 2 - Nothing really happened, they just looked the same as pre-application.
Day 3 - And the peeling begins. I wore socks to bed (as I always do) and when I took them off on the third morning skin went everywhere. Yes. Gross!
Day 4 - Still peeling like crazy! After showering the bottom of my feet were pure white from dead skin. I gently massaged with a wet towel to help the process along. The packet does say don't forcefully remove skin, so I massaged very gently.
Day 5 - Same as day 4, although I didn't massage with the towel.
Day 6 - Still keeping my socks on as peeling skin through out my shoes is not a good look!
Day 7 - The peeling is starting to slow down. After showering the bottom of feet are looking much better and there is a lot less dead skin clumps.
Day 8 - Feet feeling very smooth, there is hardly any peeling left. I still had patches of tough skin on my heels (very small compared to how I started though) so I pumiced this away.
Day 9 - Peeling fully stopped, after showering my feet were so smooth that I didn't even feel the need to moisturise. This has NEVER happened! Wow.

So there you go, for me this product was amazing. I applied this a month ago now and my feet are STILL soft and smooth! I only moisturise 3 or 4 times a week now and pumice once. Wow, I seriously never thought that this product would work so well, but for me it did and I would recommend you to give it a go. Of course, these products differ from person to person and I have seen other reviews that this product didn't work for some, or their peeling effect lasted a lot longer than mine did. For me, I will be using this product every 2 or so months, which is what they recommend to keep your feet Milky Soft!

What do you think? Have you ever used Milky Foot?
