Violet Box - May 2014 review

This is my very first Violet Box! I was given a 3 month subscription from a friend (lucky me!) and lucky for me I still made the cut to receive the May box. This came last Friday.

If you aren't aware of Violet Box, it is another beauty subscription box which costs $22.95 a month. This one is a little more expensive, however they apparently deal with more 'premium' brands in each box. Visit www.violetbox.com.au for more information.

Onto what I received:

The box is a simple magnetic black box, with the Violet Box logo on the top. There is some ribbon attached which is in a cute little bow. Opening up the box and it includes a product card and some purple tissue paper.

This box contained a whopping 7 products! Very impressed for my first experience with them! Each product I received in detail:

LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub (full size 25g)
RRP $9.95
Mmmm I love Lush and I've had my eye on a lip scrub for a while. This one is 'popcorn' although it isn't exactly popcorn to me, I can't really put my finger on exactly what it smells like. Whatever it is it's nice! It has a texture like sugar, and you just slather your lips, rub it in and then, according to the jar, lick it off. I'm not that keen on licking it off so I wiped it off... This makes your lips feel super super smooth and made putting lipstick on a much smoother experience! Love this product and super happy to have received it.

Goldwell StyleSign Sleek Perfection (20ml)
RRP $24.95 100ml
I've used a few Goldwell products in the past but never this one. According to the bottle this is intended for spraying on dry hair prior to using a straightening tool to give protection from heat. That confuses me a little, as shouldn't I be spraying wet, for heat protection from blow drying as well? It is also meant to assist with straightening so perhaps it's more that way then for heat protection. Not sure but I'll try it out!

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil (full size 1.4g)
RRP $22
I LOVE the sound of this pencil from the card. Highlighter, concealer, brightener.... perfect! From just a tiny amount of experimenting it is great! It is easy to apply, it is nice and creamy which makes it easy to blend. I thought it would be a bit 'yellowy' for my skin but in face it blends in well. I used this around my eyes and they looked instantly brighter. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!

Eve's Ready to Wear Lipstick by Teeez (full size 3.5g)
RRP $32
I received this in the colour 'tempting pink'. Looking at the colour in the tube I wasn't too impressed but upon applying.. wow! It is a beautiful semi-sheer pastel kind of pink with a bit of shine. It is nice and creamy too and doesn't dry out my lips. It also has a gorgeous scent to it, kind of vanillary, strawberry. An all round winner and one of my new faves! The packaging is super funky too.

Timeless Truth Herbal Rejuvenation Immortelle Mask (full size 30ml/1 mask)
RRP $8
I received this brand in another box this month so thankfully I received a different one in this box! I received Green Tea Phenol Soothing Mask. This one improves uneven skin tone and dark pigmentation and prevents premature signs of ageing. Sounds good and looking forward to giving it a go!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (satchet)
RRP $24.95 for 50ml/$39.95 for 100ml
This is a satchet (I despise the things!!) of product which is multi purpose dry oil for face, body and hair. I figure this is similar to Aveda's dry remedy oil which I already use. I'll give this a go.

Nuxe Creme Merveillance (satchet)
RRP $64.95 for 60ml
I have tried another Nuxe Cream but it was far to rich for my skin. This one is the visible expression lines cream and fills in, smooths and re-plumps. I'm going to give this one a miss and will pass this onto to someone else who is more willing to give it a try!

Overall i'm super impressed with this first Violet Box. 4 full size products, 3 of which I absolutely love so you don't get much better than that! Am very excited to see what else Violet Box brings me in the next 2 months. A sneak peek for June is a GHD straight and tame cream which I'm looking forward to! What do you think? Do you subscribe to Violet Box?
