Bellabox Review - September 2014

I was really not expecting to see Bellabox in my post box yesterday! I hadn't received a dispatch email or anything so very out of the blue, plus I'm usually part of the last shipment so get the box in the last few days of the month so happy to see this early. Head on over to www.bellabox.com.au if you aren't familiar with this monthly beauty box subrscription service.

The normal blue box was missing this month, they included a little card explaining this (they apparently had a wardrobe malfunction!) and the blue box will be back for next month. I don't really care as I chuck the boxes anyway but I'm sure they'll be receiving a lot of grief on their facebook for no box! (People get waaaayyy too upset about stuff like that....)

The theme for this month is Beauty Wardrobe with Gritty Pretty and Bellabox. Not really sure what they are trying to do with beauty wardrobe? Perhaps things every girl needs? Or it's time for a clean out? Who knows. Nice to see beauty bloggers featured though!

Onto what is featured in this month's box:

Cedel Scented Hairspray (full size)RRP $4.99 (100g)

I actually have this hairspray in the coconut scent and it is okay. I'm not the biggest fan of this scent, but hopefully it's like the coconut one and the smell doesn't linger! The hairspray itself doesn't set the world on fire, but for the price it is a good one.

Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner (40ml samples)
RRP $7.99 each (350ml)
Okay I'm really quite confused about this as I remember seeing the email to request this sample but I didn't fill it in as I didn't want more shampoo and conditioner from Bellabox, but still received it. Apparently pantene has changed their formula - it is a new breakthrough formula and has 100% damage protection. That is all the package says so I'm not sure of all the claims here. I'll get use out of this but I'm not a Pantene girl.

Pureology Colour Fanatic (30ml sample)
RRP $42 (200ml)

I haven't actually heard of this brand, which is great! Love seeing new bands in these boxes. This spray is a multi-tasker - it primes, protects and perfects colour treated hair, and is designed to be applied prior to applying styling products. I do have a zillion hair products sitting in my bathroom waiting to be used but this does sound good so I might open it sooner rather than later. It is also a good sized sample so will get a few applications out of it which is fantastic.

Geologic Nail Enamel (full size)
RRP $9.99 (9.5ml)

I really like the sound of this. It is a top coat which apparently gives your nail polish the effects of gel without having to use a UV lamp. I can't wait to try this - definitely my favourite product of this box. It is also another brand I haven't heard of!

Sleek Makeup Eye Dust (full size)
RRP $4.49 (price not available on card, and this isn't stocked at Bellabox so I had to look at their website (I think it's based in the UK) for the cost)

After last month's fail of an eye crayon from Sleek I wasn't too excited to see this brand featured again. This is a loose eyeshadow in a deep blue colour. It can be used either wet or dry. When I opened the pot, shadow went everywhere as the little sticker which seals the sifter was loose. The shadow itself looks quite grainy (a bit like sand) but it actually apply's quite easily. The below swatches are wet (top) and dry (bottom). It is actually quite a pearlised blue and it is quite pretty. It does smudge quite easily but this could be fixed with an eyeshadow primer. It is very shimmery and might be a bit too much for me but I will play with this one and see how it goes!

Garnier Perfect Blur (satchet)
I adore this product, it works wonders for me and I already have a full sized tube.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation (satchet)
I already have this foundation however in the correct one for my skin type. I've received a sample for dry skin so I won't be using this.

Overall September is a fairly good box and one of the best over the past couple of months in my opinion. It isn't a world beater in terms of content, it does feature 3 haircare products, but I've received two brands I've never heard of and will get use out of most of the items in this box. I'm pretty impressed, and even though it's not worth much more than the $15 it cost it to me it is pretty good.

This is my second last Bellabox of my annual subscription and if you have read my previous posts you'd know I'm not much of a fan anymore. Bellabox seem to get a bit boring and repetitive with their products, but I also think I'm starting to get a bit over the whole beauty box thing - I think I'd rather just pool the money and actually go buy something I really want, rather than get samples that are mostly not for my skintype. In saying that I have discovered some great products through these types of boxes so it hasn't been all bad!!
What do you think? Are you subscribed, what did you receive?
