Empties - August
I love trashing my empties! i enjoy going through what I used up and deciding if I want it again. it also feels good to know I'm actually getting through my mountains of products!! During August I tried to concentrate on using up sample sized products I have in my stash. I got through a few but still have quite a lot sitting around which i'm looking forward to opening and trying (mostly from my subscription boxes). So onto what I managed to empty:
Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil (satchet)
This is meant to be a 5-in-1 miracle hair perfector but unfortunately didn't do anything for me. It was a fair sized sample, considering you only need 2 drops to apply, so there was enough product to use 3 times. As a mask, before styling and before shampooing. For me it didn't make any difference and I couldn't even tell I'd used anything different. It did make my hair feel a little greasy when I used it before styling too. Repurchase? No
KMS Volumising Spray (30ml sample)
I adored this product - it was perfect on my hair. Left it smooth, helped to de-tangle and gave my limp hair a bit of volume - all without leaving it greasy or weighed down. Repurchase? Definately - can't wait to get some more
Batiste Dry Shampoo - Tropical (400ml)
Batiste is one of the best dry shampoos in my opinion. Even though this is not formulated for dark hair it didn't give me that grey look and was easy to work in/brush out. The smell is to die for as well - I can't get enough of coconut! It was a very big can though so a little awkward to store (it wouldn't fit in my bathroom shelves!) so I may stick to the smaller can next time. Repurchase? Yes
Timeless Truth Multipeptide Calming Revitalising Mask (1 cloth mask)
This was really awkward to apply as the cloth mask was absolutely dripping with product. When I finally got it on my face it did 'stick' fairly well but product was dripping all over my jumper so I had to keep a towel underneath my chin to catch it. This was enough to turn me off. I didn't really notice any kind of dramatic difference after I removed it. According to the packet it is suggested to use 3 - 4 times a week... I wouldn't want to go through that faff again! Repurchase? No
Aveda Intensive Hydrating Mask (7ml sample)
This is a clear mask with almost no scent which I liked. I used this when my skin was feeling extra dry (thanks to riding four wheelers around the farm on wintery cold days) and it did make a difference straight away. It left my skin soft and smooth. This feeling didn't last to long though so although it helps in the short term, it doesn't make a difference in the long term. I got 3 applications out of this sample. Repurchase? The cost puts me off for something that doesn't make that much difference to my skin. No.
Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Corrector (satchet)
It's hard to see if a product like this works in one satchet, when they say you will see results in 4 weeks. This serum is aimed to correct dark spots and apparently can help blemishes. Repurchase? No
John Plunkett Super Wrinkle Cream (20ml sample)
I used this a couple of times (it is still almost full) but it was too rich for my skin (it is aimed at dry skin). It did sound a good product, just unfortunately not for my skin type. Repurchase? No
Pelactiv Hydrating Cream Cleanser (30ml sample)
This cleansing milk felt nice at first but left my skin feeling tight and dry so I stopped using it. Again, this sample is still almost full) Repurchase? No
La Clinica Gentle Moisture Day Cream (10ml sample)
I enjoyed using this and it did make my skin feel great. It didn't make any difference to the look (but it is hard to tell with a small sample) but I would think about purchasing it again, just to see how it goes long term. Repurchase? I'll think about it
Mirenesse Power Clear D-Blemish Gel Cleaner (10g sample)
This had a weird minty smell and reminded me of toothpaste so was a but uncomforable to use just for that - the smell didn't go away. It also didn't remove all traces of makeup. Repurchase? No
Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover (50ml)
This is by far my favourite makeup remover. It is so gentle but works so well and removes every trace of eye makeup and lip products. I adore it. Repurchase? Yes
Bioderma Crealine H2O (20ml sample)
I do enjoy using this product and I do like it, it does all it says it should but I just prefer Garnier's Micellar water over this. Repurchase? No - but not because it's bad!
Clinique 7 day scrub cream (30ml sample)
I love Clinique, i'm a big fan (you may be able to tell considering all of the products I mention by them!) and this is a great product. It is a very gentle exfoliant and leaves skin clean and smooth. It is gentle enough to use daily however I used it 3 times a week and it made my skin feel great. Repurchase? Yes
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (3ml sample)
Well what can I say about this product that hasn't been mentioned by almost everyone?! This is a fantastic product for blemish prone skin. It really does make a difference! Repurchase? Already have!
Clinique All About Eyes Serum (De-puffing eye massage) (5ml sample)
The thing I love about this is the metal roller applicator which helps de-puff the eye area. I didn't really see any difference to my eyes after using this up (and I actually used up two of these samples in a row) but it did feel nice to use, but only because of the roller applicator. Because of that I would go for something cheaper Repurchase? No
Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie Perfume (100ml)
Now i'm no expert on fragrances, and wouldn't have a clue how to explain how this smells (all I would say is it 'smells floral' but that is not a good description!). It is beautiful scent and I always got compliments when wearing it. It just smells classy and lasts such a long time. I adore it. Repurchase? They re-formulated this and renamed it Miss Dior. To me, it doesn't smell the same so no. CRY! I'm so sad that this is finished.
Aurora Spa Rituals Vanilla & Honey Lip Moisturiser (10ml)
This was such a great balm (cocoa, papaya and vitamin E) and really made a difference to my dry lips. My fiance loved this too, apparently it was "like kissing doughnuts" hahaha. I didn't really notice any vanilla (which is a pity vanilla is one of my faves) but never mind. All round fantastic product. Repurchase? Definately.
Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss in 10 Grapefruit (15ml)
Another fantastic lip product from Clinique. I can't even explain how much I love this! It has the perfect amount of gloss, isn't sticky, lasts ages and is moisturising. Win win win! They are perfect by themselves or over lipstick. I can't wait to get some more! Repurchase? Yes - likely the whole range haha!
Loreal Base Magique Primer (5ml sample)
I just don't like this primer. It doesn't do anything great for my skin and is hard to smooth on, it kind of drags if that makes sense? Not a fan. Repurchase? No.. I've got a full size sitting in my drawer too, I really should chuck it!
Benefit They're Real mascara (3g sample)
Loved this mascara. To the point that I used it consistently till I ran out, and for me that never happens! I constantly bounce around different mascaras, but this one just worked! Non-clumpy, thickening, lengthening.. The brush is perfection. Can't get enough. Repurchase? Yes, after I've used up a few others.
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails (12ml)
I've had this for so long. Years and years and years. I found it a couple of months ago and have been using it as a top coat. I'm not even sure what it is meant to actually be used for, but for me top coat is great. It adds shine and helps polish last a little longer without chipping. Repurchase? Maybe
Romy Body Lotion Eucalyptus & Lemongrass (40ml sample)
When I first opened this I loathed the smell but since using it properly it has grown on me and is actually quite delicious. The cream on the other hand is hard to rub in and leaves me a bit greasy. Repurchase? No
Dr Hauschka Lavender Sandalwood Calming Body Wash (10ml sample)
I've heard a fair bit about this brand and before this had never used it before. It was a good body wash but nothing amazing. I wasn't really to fussed on the smell either. Repurchase? No
Mor hand cream (Neroli Clementine, Sugar Rose Tiger Lily, Honey Nectar, Basil & Grape)
This is one of the best hand creams I have used. It thoroughly moisturises and leaves my hands feeling silky smooth. My hands are so dry and get rough from the farm work that I do so this is divine. Repurchase? Yes, and I already have. Honey Nectar is my favourite.
So that is what I have I managed to use up recently. Still have a lot of samples to get through though! What have you used up recently?
