Week 5 looked like this:
- Meal plan/shopping list/sunday cook up
- Weekend Read - how to deal with those people who are doubting what you are doing and some tips on eating out
- Movement Plan (again, I'm doing the Kayla Itsines 12 week bikini challenge, but there have been some great tips and plans as part of these movement plans)
- Try This - Techniques for getting around the emotional attachment to sugar
- Tuesday Eats - eating out challenge! We got a little pocket guide to eating out which can be easily taken with you - fantastic!
- Expert Tips - the IQS experts shared what they eat when in restaurants and cafes
So like I mentioned before I did have a few slip ups this week. I've been all over the place trying to organise so much and even though I tried my hardest to make good choices I didn't always. I had 5 tim tams as there was literally nothing else to eat and boy did I pay for it. I had 1 and couldn't stop, it was like all the cravings came at me at once and I ate 4 more and i'm ashamed to say that I would have eaten more but there was only 5 left in the packet. Agh! I felt satisfied almost immediately, but after 10 or so minutes I felt sick, hungry and irritable. It was horrible and even though I wish it didn't happen I am kind of glad because if I'm ever tempted again, I know exactly how I'll feel afterwards!
We did eat out a few times this week and I'm happy to say that the pocket guide we received with the eating out challenge really helped! I was confused, and overwhelmed, with the menu at first - it's so much easier to make good choices when you're at home and there is nothing to tempt you! I decided on grilled chicken with steamed vegetables, with no sauce however all I wanted was a big juicy burger or tomato-based pasta. I was pretty happy with myself until the people I was with pulled out the cake. It was impossible to say no (you know the looks you get when someone has baked something for you!) so I scraped all the icing off and only ate the cake. Again, I felt sick bloated and guilty. Not fun.
So overall, not the most successful week in tems of food however I did learn a lot. It's okay to cave to cravings - it's how you recover which makes the difference :)
Excited for the next weeks to come and to get back on the no sugar bandwagon!
